CUSA 2020 has ended
On behalf of the Manitoba Post-Secondary Institutions we have made the decision to cancel CUSA 2020.  We will be working with those of you who have already registered for the conference to return your registration fees.  Although this is disappointing, we do look forward to hosting the conference in 2021.  If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to contact Jodi Pluchinski at safety@rrc.ca.

Welcome to CUSA 2020!
Work Hard, Have Fun and Make the Difference-this is the CUSA 2020 Conference Theme. Assiniboine Community College, Manitoba Institute of Trades and Technology, Brandon University, University of Manitoba, University of Winnipeg, and Red River College are the post-secondary institutions (PSI) that are collaborating to host this conference. Red River College Notre Dame Campus will be the host location. Our Conference Committee chose this theme because this is what we strive for every day. Safety Professionals WORK HARD and a big part of being successful is building relationships with programs and departments. If you can build solid relationships with others you all will HAVE FUN at work.  When everyone is engaged, empowered, and have confidence in you then you and others will  MAKE THE DIFFERENCE in the safety culture. For anyone not familiar with this conference, the College University Safety Association (CUSA) is a collective of safety professionals from PSIs across the country. This conference is an excellent opportunity to network with other professionals (e.g. security, nursing, facilities), hear what is happening across Canada, and learn something new to bring back to your institution. The cost of registration also includes 2 exciting and fun evening social activities! Stay tuned for more information about the conference program.

Professional athletes use their bodies to make a living – stretching and strengthening the muscles they need to block, throw, tackle etc. safely and efficiently. Students and staff in post-secondary institutions can use similar tactics to prepare for the stresses of their daily performance by exercising and learning the proper ways to move and work. From front-line healthcare students to support staff in housekeeping, maintenance etc., the education sector can greatly benefit from a few basic strategies to improve performance and decrease potential injury.
